Hi everyone,
It was our first Saturday night here in Birmingham and Tessa and I thought that it was time to treat ourselves a little bit. It didn’t take us long to decide how we could spoil ourselves best, because there is only one answer to that question and it has something to do with vinegared rice, raw fish and Japan.
We decided to go out and eat sushi at Shogun Teppanyaki restaurant located at the Cube in Birmingham. ‘The cube’ is a beautiful venue next to ‘The mailbox’ in the city centre of Birmingham. It is not putting it too strongly to say that there is a world of difference between Perry Barr (inner-city area in north Birmingham where we are staying) and this place. I would describe the city centre of Birmingham with words as ‘modern’, ‘artistic’ and ‘stunning’ whereas I would describe Perry Barr with words as ‘filthy’ and ‘dreary’. So, you could imagine, that we were more than excited as soon as we arrived at the mailbox. This place was gorgeous. Full of overdressed, stereotypical British people. I love it.
The sushi was actually one of the best I’ve ever had and also one of the, if not the, cheapest I’ve ever had. We went for a cocktail on a full stomach in a pub with some good music afterwards and then decided to have a look at ‘Broad Street’, which is the biggest nightspot of Birmingham.
We noticed that the fact that it was almost freezing outside didn’t stop the British from going out in their shortest shorts and dresses (AKA shirts without pants) without a jacket or whatsoever. I would love to describe the whole scene in detail, but for those who watch ‘Geordie Shore’ on MTV.. You exactly know what it looked like.
